The Humboldt Math Festival is celebrating its 16th 鈥淐ommunity Celebration of Mathematics鈥 on April 26th from 12 to 4 at the Adorni Center, in Eureka. It is FREE for math enthusiasts and math phobics of all ages. It is a great family event. Bring your friends too. The festival includes hands-on fun with puzzles, games, contests, demos and make-&-take activities. The town of Gold Hill has been celebrating its rich heritage at the annual Gold Dust Day festival for more than 70 years. While the people and features may have changed over time, there鈥檚 nothing better than a big parade, marching bands, car show, crafts and historic exhibits that draw thousands to Gold Hill every year on the first Saturday in June. Lori Hettman, with the Gold Hill Community Development Organization (Can-DO) tells of Gold Dust Days of yesteryear and today and the important community groups that keep the annual event fun for all. RGGC celebrates its Spring Gem & Mineral show Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 26 and 27, at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. There will be: Vendors selling raw, lapidary, and faceted gems, crystals, fossils; hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry; polished slabs, rough rock, and more; demonstrators showing how they 鈥渄o what they do;鈥 kid鈥檚 corner; display cases; raffle; minerals glowing in the dark in the fluorescent room; and 鈥 of course -MORE!
SOHS Hanley Farm鈥檚 highly anticipated and wildly popular 鈥淎nnual Heritage Plant Sale鈥 is back! Last year's Heritage Plant Sale was great, and we anticipate this year's sale to be even better. There will be over 85 varieties of perennials to choose from, including: lilacs (which is one of the first plants put in by Martha Hanley in the 1860s), peonies, iris, thimbleberry and snow berry bushes, drought tolerant plants, heirloom tomato and pepper seedlings, and much more. Galice Garden Faire, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days, Galice Community Hall, 10821 Galice Road, Galice. Vendors sell native plants, trees, deer resistant plants, herbs, perennials and vegetable starts, including heirloom tomatoes, as well as handmade garden-related crafts and garden art. There鈥檚 also a raffle and a beer garden raffle. Admission is free.
