Food comes from the ground, not a truck or shelf; so how does it get you?

This interview with retired JPR host, Geoffrey Riley, is SO GOOD we're excited to re-air it.

It's on the shelf, you give it a look, and if you like it, you buy it. The consumer end of grocery shopping is really quite easy in today's world. But there's a lot of work required to get your food to the grocery store, and more work to keep the shelves stocked while it's there. And let's not forget about how many animals are sacrificed to keep meat on our tables.

Benjamin Lorr explores the food supply chain in his book, "." He joins the Exchange to shed light on an invisible system; from the farm to the grocery store, he discusses the movements of today, and the innovations of yesterday, that established the current food supply system.
