Fire is a part of life in our region; we all get that. The knowledge is useful for living here, and informed by many fields, from forest management to psychology.
You can include art in that range of fields, because artists can and do play a part in understanding our relationship to fire. Artist Bryan David Griffith saw a fire narrowly miss his home and studio, then studied wildfire in the field with scientists.
He and fellow artist Julie Comnick--who had a similar experience--present a talk called through the Spring Creek Project at Oregon State University. The artists chat about the work, before the event on January 4th.
