The bare top of Mount Shasta last summer is probably not a fluke. The glaciers are still there, though shrinking, but the annual snowpack continues to melt off earlier in the summer each year.
Now multiply the situation by all the other mountains we depend upon in the west for snowpack. Less snowpack, less water available for all uses in the dry part of the year.
