If the last college sporting event you attended involved people standing up, you'd better sit down. Because many colleges have instituted "esports" programs.

A hyphen would help; we're talking E-sports, people playing games in the electronic realm. They are not only a source of collegiate pride (and money), they are a focus for as well.

Amanda Cote and Maxwell Foxman are assistant professors of media and games studies at the University of Oregon, and they study the effects of esports on campuses. They describe their work in this month's edition of Curious: Research Meets Radio.
