Oregon had long had a split personality when it came to gray wolves. The wolves had federal protection in part of the state, but not all.
Now the portion west of U.S. Highway 395 has lost that difference, and wolf management is up to the state, through the (ODFW). That is, assuming there are no lawsuits filed against the federal removal of wolf protections, and some have been threatened.
