Restoring School Art Programs In Oregon

The new KIDS COUNT report, by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, finds children in Oregon are healthier than average but lag their peers nationwide when it comes to education.

When the budget ax falls on schools, it tends to fall first on the programs that are not seen as essential to learning, music and art among them. 

School funding and some programs are slowly rebounding from the recession, but many schools do without. 

The Oregon Community Foundation's program aims to pick up the slack, with art programs that can be sustained into the future.
