Raising taxes has always been a tough sell in Josephine County.
We'll know in a few weeks if the lack of sheriff's department patrols and a rise in crime has made the sell any easier.
Josephine County voters will decide the fate of Measure 17-59 in the May 20th election. The measure does not specifically raise any money for patrols, but it does increase funding for the jail and juvenile department, so that people arrested for crimes will remain in custody longer.
17-59 lead petitioner Pat Fahey of the group makes the case for a yes vote.
