2014 Rising Stars Competition Continues

The third annual Rising Stars competition will continue live competition rounds at South Stage Cellars tasting room in Jacksonville each Saturday in February.

Rising Stars puts the spotlight on local musical acts of one to four members, in a variety of genres. The winner of the competition will be featured on Britt’s main stage as an opening act in the 2014 season (pending artist approval), and will be heard in a 30-minute live in-studio performance on ÀÏ·ò×Ó´«Ã½ this summer.

The Rising Stars competition runs each Saturday in February, and showcases talented musicians throughout the Rogue Valley. The public is invited to attend the competition rounds and vote on their favorite acts. Admission for the event is free, and each vote costs $2, with all proceeds from voting benefiting the music education programs of the Britt Institute. The Britt Institute served more than 7000 individuals last year alone through summer camps, family concerts, school residencies, master classes, arts-based internships, and more.

This year, thirteen acts were selected for the competition, which takes place at South Stage Cellars at 125 S 3rd St Jacksonville, OR 97530.

  • February 8: Not Two Shabby, Charles Guy & Linda Powers, Sage Meadows & High Country
  • February 15: Em Harriss, Frankie Hernandez and the Old Soul Parade, Glenn Justus
  • February 22: Ryan Vosika & His BanditosYanquis, The Tin Man Project, CeeCeeJames

Acts that advance to final rounds will compete at the finals on Saturday, March 1, on the Britt stage, with the winner chosen by a combination of public voting and a panel of judges. The winner will be announced at the end of the night on March 1. There will be a $5 per person admission charge for the finals. All admission proceeds will go to the 2014 Rising Stars winner.
