Oregon National Guardsmen and women are in Eugene to assist Lane County Public Health with mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics. 7,400 doses of vaccine are going to people in Phase 1A at this drive-up event.

鈥淗i, I鈥檓 Specialist Johnathan Bagnall. With the 2162 Infantry out of Springfield, Oregon. So What we鈥檙e doing at this table, we鈥檙e filling the vaccines, we have to pre-draw them ourselves. And then we go through the proper CDC screenings. Make sure all the contraindications are met. And then from there we鈥檙e gonna go ahead and administer here,鈥 said Bagnall.

鈥淚f you are touching a patient or if you鈥檙e touching the vaccine, you have to be a nationally certified EMT at the very least.鈥

鈥淢y name is Meghan Jedrzejewski.鈥
Reporter: 鈥淎nd, you are giving shots today.鈥
(Hear her speak to Mary when she pulls up for her shot.)
鈥淥k try to keep that arm nice and loose. Try to relax.鈥

鈥淎濒谤颈驳丑迟.鈥
鈥淎lright, ma鈥檃m. It鈥檚 1:27pm. You鈥檙e gonna go right over here, park and hang out for 15 minutes. If you have any questions, honk that horn and we鈥檒l come running.鈥
Mary says, 鈥淥k.鈥
鈥淭hat鈥檚 your ticket out and your ticket back in four weeks for your second dose,鈥 says Jedrzejewski.
鈥淭hank you very much,鈥 Mary says.
鈥淵ea, you have a good day.鈥 (Hear the car start.)

Specialist Bagnall says, 鈥淎ll the vaccinators, we have the goal of 250 an hour. And at the end of the day we tally and see how me met that mission goal.鈥
Reporter: 鈥淗ow does it feel to be doing this particular mission.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 an interesting feeling. Because I definitely feel like this is kind of what we signed up to do in the Guard. We鈥檙e there to help out the community, save lives, and that鈥檚 exactly what we鈥檙e doing here.鈥
