Last week, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission rejected a barrage of appeals from opponents of the Jordan Cove project.
Now, with their administrative appeals exhausted, a coalition of environmental groups has filed suit to overturn FERC’s approval of the proposed pipeline and liquefied natural gas export terminal in southwest Oregon.
The suit argues the commission failed to properly consider environmental and other impacts the facility would have.
A group of landowners who stand to lose property to the pipeline through eminent domain filed their own suit late last week. And several tribal governments, as well as the State of Oregon – which has not issued any of the crucial state permits the Jordan Cove project needs -- are likely to sue, as well, in the coming days.
Jordan Cove officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
