Living with Fire - opening reception

Living with Fire - opening reception

“Living with Fire” art exhibition is a collaborative presentation at three local art galleries opening on Friday, April 4th during the Annual Redding Cultural Cruise. Developed by guest curator, Aundi Taylor, as a part of her MFA thesis, “this juried group show, created in partnership across Redding art venues, is my call for connection (...). It’s an artistic reminder that community unites us in difficult times. The Northern California artists you see here share their interpretations of what it means to live with fire and adapt to a changing world. Their creative works depict literal and metaphorical explorations of lengthening fire seasons, loss, trauma, recovery, regeneration, fortitude, resilience, or regeneration in the context of living in a fire-prone and fire-adapted region. As a viewer in this space, you are invited to connect with the creative brilliance of these artists who see the world intensely and soulfully.”

“Living with Fire” is hosted simultaneously at North Valley Art Leauge - Carter House gallery, the Redding Municipal Airport gallery and at Shasta County Arts Council - Old City Hall. The exhibition features 37 local artists, for information where each artist’s work can be found, visit www.shastaartscouncil.org. The show opens on Friday, April 4th, with receptions from 4pm to 8pm. “Living with Fire” will be available to visitors at the abovementioned locations through April 26.

Curator’s talk and storytelling workshop will be held on Saturday, April 26 at Old City Hall.
