The city of Grants Pass hopes to open the fourth in Oregon soon. The facility — for which the city received a $500,000 grant from the Legislature — will be a place where people who are intoxicated can be taken by police or sheriff deputies until they sober up. There will also be information about substance and mental health treatment options available. Portland, Eugene, and Medford already have sobering centers, and several other cities are looking into opening them this year.
