The opioid epidemic, boosted by the arrival of the drug fentanyl, has torn through communities in Southern Oregon. It鈥檚 also having a devastating impact on mothers struggling with addiction. An innovative facility in the Rogue Valley is helping those parents and their children.

Nitrous oxide is used medically for sedation or pain relief and in restaurants to make whipped cream. It鈥檚 also used to get high.

On Wednesday, a team of law enforcement agencies announced the successful takedown of a drug trafficking ring in Southern Oregon, ending in 24 arrests.

On Thursday, the Medford City Council passed a resolution formally asking the Oregon legislature to repeal or modify Measure 110.

Oregon's Measure 110 passed in 2020 and aimed to address drug addiction through increased treatment and recovery efforts. Jackson County commissioners say it hasn't worked.

Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill that would have allowed a handful of California cities and counties to operate supervised drug injection sites. In his veto message, he said he鈥檚 concerned these sites could result in unintended consequences or worsen the drug crisis.

Proposition 47 removed the threat of jail time for simple drug possession. Now participation in drug courts is way down.
