News media have traditionally played a role by generally not covering suicides. Which makes some sense in individual cases, but potentially adds to the squelching of suicide as an important discussion topic.
Media outlets around Oregon join forces April 7 to 14 in a campaign called "Breaking the Silence." JPR reached out to , NAMI being the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
