Local, state and federal investigators continue to sift through the evidence in the Wednesday morning bomb attack on the Jackson County District Attorney’s office in Medford.
By mid-day Thursday, the scene of the fire and explosion in downtown Medford had been cleared. Investigators are examining the physical evidence, including the propane tank that was used to build the home-made bomb. The fact that the device failed to fully detonate is credited with preventing a much more violent explosion ... Medford police spokesman Lt. Mike Budreau says investigators are canvassing the neighborhood, looking for additional witnesses.
MIKE BUDREAU: "We’re also looking for any type of security video that folks may have at their home that could have been running on the night in question."
Budreau says a number of leads have failed to pan out. Others, he says, are still being followed up. That includes a possible connection to a recent pair of incidents in Coos Bay. There, improvised bombs made with small propane tanks were left near a war memorial in late August and in a church in early September. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information in those cases.
